Happy 2007!

By C4RL05

Last year was amazing, but 2007 looks even better.

It will certainly see the release of the much anticipated public beta of Papervision3D, hopefully sooner than later. In any case, I believe the wait will be worth it.

A group of very talented people has worked on the alpha during the past month, taken this project to a new level. Let me openly express my acknowledgement and respect. A lot of new features have been added in the process. And on top of that, an AS3 version is now being developed in parallel.

Just compare 2007 to last year’s 2006, which was the premiere of Papervision. I think you would understand why we are so excited.

Latest version of Adobe Flash Player required for full-screen mode.

    The effect is very great!!!
Would you mind to provide the next deadline for us to download
    papervision3d.
Moreover, would you mind to release some tutorial of papervision3d???
If I have poor knowledge of AS3, is it difficult for me to use papervision3d???

The very first time I saw Papervision, I think, it was on 3d cube demo that showed that girl inside. It was great! But I need to ask: can I create animated 3D scenes with Papervision? Like, hmmm, animated characters, animated faces, etc?

I have been trying to put my own simple shapes into the helloworld examples and the AsePreview.swf but with no luck. I am using Maya on a mac and then converting the exported obj to ASE with biturn but no love. Any helpful hints? And a I second the request for a simple tutorial it would be a great help to us noobs!!! Nice work looking forward to using it!

I’ve used biturn and also had no luck with it, I havent really investigated why, but the file contents are slightly different than when exported using the Collada plugin, when comparing the 2 side by side.

  5. C4RL05 Says:

The officially supported object format is Collada, which is in the process of being rewritten to handle multiple objects and materials per file.

Ase has been deprecated but still included for legacy reasons.

If you encounter any problems while testing the current private alpha, it would be better to discuss them in the mailing list.

There is a bug in the flash video. When you are in fullscreen mode and click the 99 in the upper right corner, flash locks up. You can exit still by (on windows) pressing alt-f4. Appears to be caused when the popup is blocked in Firefox.

Hello, is there any chance I can contact the author of this particular example? I would like to ask them a few private questions. I cant find any link to contact them directly.
