Ricardo Cabello aka Mr.doob has posted two jaw-dropping Papervision3D AS3 demos that clearly raise the bar on full-screen Flash performance.
The work that’s being produced by our betatester team is simply amazing, and there’s much more coming your way.

Wow! The demos are amazing.
I’m really expecting to start experimenting with papervision3d in actionscript3 and flex2 projects.
Good luck.

Hey people!!! The tunnel demo it’s freaking amazing!! I can’t believe it!!!
I felt like “huh that’s a pre-rendered scene…What I can control the camera?!?!?”
Feels really rendered, that’s incredible!
And, correct me if I’m wrong, but is there a primitive use of materials? The tunnel looked like shiny, with reflections…
Simply amazing, I’ll give it a try as soon as it comes out!

The tunnel is an animated panorama – so it *is* a pre-rendered scene, but the entire 360 view is pre-rendered, so you can pan around while it’s animating. That’s why you can’t move closer to the walls. Look carefully and you can see it’s about 10 frames or so before it repeats.
So there’s no shiny reflective materials being used within flash. Still, impressive

[...] Some guys are working on creating 3D interactive flash “movies” (I hesitate to call them movies however). The result is absolutely amazing. Performance wise its very smooth, and you can actually maximize it to fill your entire screen. Demos and more information can be found here. [...]
