Darek Senkow, from Big Donut Games has been working on a realtime, multiplayer skate game, entirely based on PV3D.
Although still in beta, the work put into it is absolutely amazing.
After registering, you need to customize your skater and you’re all set to hit the streets. Control your sk8r with the cursor keys, hit space to jump. Check the buildings around you, some are closed, others open. You can go into the open ones. Look for the train station, it will take you to the different zones, where you can race against your friends.
Explore, have fun and give them feedback if you have the time.

Well, I got into the game, but experienced a SERIOUS memory leak on my computer. When all was said and done, I had an increase of about 500M of memory (which was enough to nearly crash my computer.) It may have been my browser, which is itself a beta, but it’s been stable for two years and I’ve never seen anything like this before.
I had such major lag that my frame rate, when I actually had one, ranged from 2 to at most 4. I glitched my way through an invisible barrier and got stuck on a grassy zone- you may want to check the direction those barriers are facing, if they are in fact single-sided.
I should point out that I didn’t have any CP issues; my processor was just fine. My page file, though, went through the roof. If this game really does allocate 500MB or more of memory, something’s wrong there, too.
Oh, but the chat worked just fine, and I didn’t have any rendering issues. Just that memory thing. I’ll try it on another browser and see what happens.

Sorry, disregard that last bug. The leak doesn’t occur in the latest version of Firefox. The lag is gone too. I’ll be sure to try that next time before submitting a bug report.
The issue about glitching through stuff still exists to a certain extent, but at least I don’t get stuck. I saw it when I went through a door.

Thalden- I’m glad the memory issue was not caused by the game.
I went through a lot of trouble to do as much garbage collection as possible and the current build has been holding up well for us even after several hours of game play. I’m hoping to improve the memory footprint even more if I can.

Also, I wanted to add that we are hunting down and fixing those wall glitches on a regular basis. Even if the wall seams are off even by just a few degrees, they may leave open gaps that people can punch through, but this is a common issue with most games of this nature and easily corrected.

Hey, the game doesn’t work past when you log in. I just get a screen with the logo and thats it, it just stops there. Also the second people realized you had to register to play the game everyone was turned off the idea INSTANTLY. You should set it up so you can just dart around for a bit without the need to register.

When a user goes back to log in, the login field is limited to 8 characters instead of the 16 that it is when you first set up your login. Because of the discrepancy, I could not log in the first two times. I almost ran out of email addresses. Also, you cannot reset your password. I couldn’t figure out how to do any trick besides an ollie. I think it would work better as a driving game where you can race other drivers, rather than a skating game.
Interesting use of papervision3D. I’m curious as to how many users it can accomodate.

Wow- people are still posting here. I guess I need to check this page more often! A few weeks ago I updated the registration mailer- it should be able to get through to most everyone with a valid email address.
We get hundreds of bounces per day- most of them come back as invalid email addresses- so be sure to enter a valid email!
We’re also maxing out our trial license of the socket server, so it’s full at times. We currently have over 15,000 users and climbing fast! I’m writing a custom socket soon, along with a migration to Papervision 2.0, which is awesome- should be out this Summer. Until then- please be patient.

Hhhmmm I seem to be having the same problem as most people, I click on the play button and the ‘Big Donut’ screen comes up and only half of the big O loads up and it just stay’s only half way loaded, therefore not allowing me to play. Could you please fix this bug or does anybody know why this is happening?

Hey guys, when i log on it’s fine but when i click on “Go Skate” it comes up with Big Donut Games and stays like it for ever. The big O is loaded fully but it just seems like it crashes, therefore, not letting me play the game. Does anyone know why this is happening, if so please comment, on the other hand, it seems like it’s going to be a great game with alot off reputation. Please help me with my problem or fix this bug/error.
