Lately I’ve been getting alot of emails about the Las Vegas class (which is filling up fast) asking if their 3D developer or designer would get much out of the class and I thought I should say something about that
The answer is YES! I have several people attend classes who had just gotten into flash recently or were primarily going to be doing 3D but for Papervision flash sites and applications. The ones that I’ve talked to have said they gained alot from the class time and had alot of fun at it, so I think it’s a good thing for those folks.
When I go over samples and hand out code and assets, I walk everyone through the process step by step. At the beginning of class on the first day, I check to see who’s got what experience in what and tailor it to their needs as much as I can. If people want to see samples in 3D Studio Max or Swift3D, i’ll break em’ out
I also make sure everyone goes home with a ton of stuff:
- Sample 3D models and textures
- Pure AS3 project code and samples
- Pure Flex project code and samples
- Pure Flash IDE project samples
- Latest version of CS3 component (version 2.0 Great White)
- Source for Winter Wonder Land
- Source for Room Creator
- Latest stable version of Papervision code base
- FLV Viewer (AIR app for viewing FLV’s)
- Collada Viewer (AIR app for viewing Collada files etc – brand new)
We’ll be covering everything in Papervision starting from the ground up including:
- Lastest 2.o additions and changes
- Cameras, including FrustrumCamera3D
- Materials
- Shaders/Materials
- Collada
- 3D applications like 3D Studio Max and Swift3D
- Effects
- Using tweening packages
- WinterWonderLand
- RoomCreator
- TONS of optimization techniques for getting your FPS up
- Cross communication between DO3D’s, Materials and MovieClips
- and a ton more…
Anyway, I hope that helps to answer some questions that have been coming through and can’t wait to see everyone out there!

I know I’ve said this before as a comment on this blog, but I guess saying it again wouldn’t hurt :p
You guys should seriously consider an online training program, there are probably thousands of people around the world like me who would appreciate that a lot.
Thank you.

Yes! I’m working with RMI right now and we’re likely to have our first sometime in June or July – don’t quote me on that yet though

are u considering an e-learning class anytime in the near future. I’ m sure lots of people around the world are interested in the topics you cover in your seminars and would be willing to pay for your services.
I leave and work as a graphics programmer in Greece and despite the fact that I will eventually buy a book on papervision (whenever that appears), I consider a paid e-learning course far more superior since it allows me to interact and communicate with professionals directly.
thanks
keep up the good work!

yeah, online training would benefit more people…
I know meat-realm courses in fabulous las-vegas are tres glamourous but why not record the lectures and post them online, ala gotoandlearn.com
sell subscriptions to the service and forums if the papervision donate button isn’t paying the bills…
just an idea…
