In Radiohead’s new video for House of Cards from the album In Rainbows, no cameras or lights were used. Just data.
This data is obtained from real time 3D recording, with structured light and laser-enhanced scanners and not only makes a wicked video but it’s also available for you to play with.
Google Code is hosting the Data Visualization application and providing an iGoogle gadget. Explore the data through a 3D viewer and use your mouse to further manipulate the data and create your own visualizations.
This interactive piece was made by Aaron Meyers and Aaron Koblin using a modified version of PV3D. For more info click here.

Very striking and surreal, a far stretch from the uber-detail most people expect from CGI. The nature of the render supports the style of music as well.
