Excellent interactive infographics from The New York Times that allows you to examine the 15th hole of the US Open Golf Tournament in glorious 3D.
Impressive high detail was achieved with a high-mesh laser scan of the 15th green that was used to build a detailed texture map and a simplified model for import into Papervision.

nice idea but overall look is pretty unpleasant. The whole thing is highly pixelated and you even struggle to read what the text on the blue buttons say..to spend all that time on making a nice 3d model and then just banging it into paperV without any time on design is beyond me? you coulda made this more elegant for sure!
