Flash on the Beach 08

August 12, 2008

Flash on the Beach 08 is coming to Brighton at the end of September with an amazing speaker line-up and plenty of PV3D action.

On Sunday 28th, Ralph Hauwert kicks off with an unmissable Papervision3D Workshop looking at the possibilities and features of the engine by examining and doing hands-on work on a set of examples and experiments. FOTB workshops are already sold out.

My session is titled The best way to predict the future is to invent it, will take place on Monday 29th and will focus on the techniques, workflow and planning necessary to overcome the creative and technical challenges when creating interactive experiences.

And on Wednesday 1st you can’t miss Papervision3D Simplified by Seb Lee-Delisle. He’ll show you how to create 3D objects in code, import them from other 3D apps and even make a cool little game. You can’t learn more PV3D in an hour.

Workshops are already sold out and there’s only a few tickets left for the conference that won’t last much longer. Make sure you get yours before it’s sold out.

Make sure you check out the conference site where you can play an inspirational 2D/3D version of Asteroids. Great work by group94.

FlashForward Spaceship Demo

September 28, 2007

Here is the Spaceship Demo from my FlashForward presentation last week in beautiful Boston.

It’s actually pretty simple, just a few models inside a skybox, but nevertheless it’s a good excuse to show professional game art in Papervision3D.

After John Grden’s sessions in the US, the Rich Media Institute and FITC will now host a session in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The 2 day workshop will be hosted by me, Ralph Hauwert, and throughout these sessions we will go in depth with Papervision3D for developers, but we’ll also leave plenty of space for designers to enjoy the workshop and get up to speed with the latest and greatest with 3D in Flash. We’ll cover scenes, cameras, camera types, materials, material types, loading, COLLADA, Flex2 development, the CS3 Component (latest and future versions), 3D workflow in an agency type setting, animation, texturing (UVW, 3D apps, and how they apply to PV3D work). “
