Online Training – Optimization Techniques July 27th (repeat course)

July 23, 2008

I’m sorry I’m late on announcing this, I’ve been super busy with this current client and trying to get everything else done for the course has just consumed all motor skills and brain cells ;(

I’m taking a break from traveling for a while, so RMI has set me up with some on-line course time and this weekend (sunday), I’m going to pouring over the Winterwonder Land application and talking about optimization techniques for Papervision and the flash Player in general.

In the course files, I’m including nearly all the demo’s I used for the classes I taught in person as well as the source for Winterwonder Land’s animation engine etc.

If you’re interested, you can sign up over at RMI’s site:

Hope to see you there!

FINALLY! 50% Student discounts on John’s last 2 PV3D courses

April 17, 2008

Well, this is something that I’d wanted to do because I get asked about it quite a bit, but I don’t actually control the pricing of the courses. But the folks over at RMI got enough requests for it, and so they’ve issued a student discount code that’s worth 50% off the general admission price!

THAT ROCKS!

If you’re a student, and you’d like to attend one of the last 2 Papervision3D courses I’m doing (there are still other classes by other PV3D people going on after that of course), or you know a student, head on over to the links below and use this code:

Vancouver code: PVStudent

Toronto code: PVStudentTO

They only require that you show a valid student ID on the day of the classes of course.

You can also use ‘grdenvan‘ for 10% off discount on regular ticket prices.

Courses left:

Vancouver: May 3rd & 4th

Toronto: June 7th & 8th

After that, I’m done for a while. Check out this post to see what’s being covered, and here’s on post of a happy student from the Las Vegas class (which rocked beyond belief, that one was alot of fun!). Please let me know if you have any questions!

2 more dates for Papervision3D training, then that’s it.

April 4, 2008

Well, just for John (me) that is :) I made a promise that I’d only do 2 more and then stay at home (except for Brighton of course), so Vancouver and Toronto will be it for me for a while.

The Las Vegas class was one for the books to be sure. The classes were great, the students rocked and the demo’s worked as they should (not to mention the night life – sunday morning was started with people straggling in every 10 minutes ;) I can’t wait to go back there for another gig!

Hope to see you all out at the last 2!

* Vancouver:
Dates: May 3rd – 4th (9:30am – 6:00pm, ~15 hrs)
Price: $499
Max Students: 50
Location: Residence Inn by Marriott Vancouver Downtown
discount code for 10% is “grdenvan”

* Toronto – early June: to be announced soon

Papervision3D at FITC Toronto!

March 26, 2008

Papervision3D Toronto 2008

Yes! Flash In The Can – Toronto 2008 is coming up real soon!

Last year we had a great time at this awesome event and we are hoping it will be even better this year!

This year’s event will include a pre-conference 1-day official workshop on Papervision3D hosted by one of the core development team, yours truly, Ralph Hauwert.

With the FITC Amsterdam workshop completely selling out, make sure you are in time ordering your tickets for FITC Toronto fast…real fast. To attend you need either a pre-festival workshop ticket or a full conference ticket, which will give you access to the entire event.

The code unitzeroone will give you a 10% discount on the full conference ticket!

If you decide to go to the conference make sure you also attend the “3D in Flash: Now and in the future” session, which promises to become an interesting discussion between developers and Adobe!

Also, some love at Flash 2D and 3D effects would be highly appreciated (as well as giving you a sneak at some previously unseen material )!

Papervision Courses: Good for designers/3D people? YES

March 18, 2008

Lately I’ve been getting alot of emails about the Las Vegas class (which is filling up fast) asking if their 3D developer or designer would get much out of the class and I thought I should say something about that ;)

The answer is YES! I have several people attend classes who had just gotten into flash recently or were primarily going to be doing 3D but for Papervision flash sites and applications. The ones that I’ve talked to have said they gained alot from the class time and had alot of fun at it, so I think it’s a good thing for those folks.

Papervision3D Training: LAS VEGAS Style

March 14, 2008

Man, the last class we had in San Fran was a great class despite the fact that we had it on SUPERBOWL SUNDAY! It was the biggest class to date, and this one’s already filling up – I’m really excited about this one since it’s my first time back to Las Vegas in a while. I can’t wait to hit the strip with you guys on Saturday night! Get the details here (use “grden10″ for a 10% discount)!

Papervision3D coming to San Francisco – it’s filling up

January 22, 2008

As with the previous 3 classes I’ve taught, the last 2 weeks is a scramble for seats as most people wait to see if their bosses and deadlines will permit them getting to the class. The cool part is, this class has more seats sold before the last 2 weeks than most of the other classes, and we ended up with over 40 the last 2 times (that’s alot). The first class in California was a total 24, and we’re already at 25 :) The evenbrite says “75 tickets left” but that’s a bug with their service. We can only probably fit 40 people.

This class is going to be awesome, and I personally can’t wait. First, I get back to California and I love SF :) Andy Zupko’s going to be teaching on the second day about effects, pixel3D and PixelModeler and Andy’s just a great guy to be around!

Here’s some of the things we’re throwing in:

  • 2.0 (GreatWhite) training
  • Un-released 2.0 component ( released to the class members only, includes new materials panel )
  • New Sketchup native file support
  • Swift3D Overview
  • Swift3D giveaway (2 free copies and 15% discount code for class memebers)
  • WOW Physics engine
  • Shaders/Materials
  • Effects
  • Pixel3D/PixelModeler

There’s also another bonus I’m working to give to class members, but I’ll keep that under wraps just incase I can’t get it done ;)

Anyway, hope to see everyone out there, and should be a great class
